Description

Provides a detailed set of wind load calculations that illustrate how to calculate wind load per ASCE 7-10 and ASCE 7-16. In addition, the ebook provides a comparison of the various methods within each standard as well as a comparison in the results obtained following ASCE 7-10 versus ASCE 7-16. Each example also provides an illustration of how to model the same structure in the MecaWind software, as well as a copy of all input files for each example so that the user may open the actual files and view the inputs.

The ASCE 7 standard is not a simple standard to follow and apply to "Real World" situations.  Therefore, we have written a EBook to illustrate some common problems that are encountered in structural design.

The e-book is purchased online, and if it's purchased in combination with MecaWind the user receives a $10 discount.  To take advantage of this discount, simply add MecaWind (Standard or Pro) to your shopping cart and there will be an dropdown option that allows you to add the ebook with the discount.

The e-book offers the following guidance to users:

  1. Compares each structure using ASCE 7-05 and ASCE 7-10, and shows the results using both methods.
  2. Several different methods are used for each structure (Simplified, Envelope, Simple Diaphragm, etc..)
  3. Examples are worked manually, and then using MecaWind, and both results are presented.  This gives the user a detailed comparison of the software results and manual calculations.
  4. The e-book offers the following examples:
    1. Building 35 ft wide x 70 ft long with flat roof
    2. Building 150 ft x 300 ft x 157 ft High with 3' Solid Parapet
    3. "L" shaped house
    4. Open building 20' x 40' with Pitched Roof
  5. A copy of all MecaWind input files is provided, so that the user can open the file and look at it interactively.
